Sandy was very excited when she found out last year that her daughter Shannon was expecting. Her due date was February 12 so we cleared our calendar around that date. Sandy wanted to be free to go back to Illinois to see the baby when it came. The only exception was a quick trip to Baltimore for the marriage celebration for my son Mickey, which was planned for February 3. Sandy was a little nervous but figured that if the baby surprised us and came early she could just fly straight to Illinois from Baltimore without coming back home.
Well, the baby surprised us alright. Brooklyn arrrived on January 13, almost a full month early. Friday the thirteenth turned out to be a lucky day. She was only 4 lbs 10 oz but was a healthy baby. She was very tiny though. Because she was early, Sandy was able to fly to the Midwest and spend ten days playing Grandma and still get home several days before our trip to Baltimore. (That's why the post on our Baltimore trip comes after this one.)
So remember now - she's Gramma Sandy to you, Sonny!
